First Grade

William on the first day of first grade.

William on the last day of first grade.

Will turned 7 in May.  He is such a good boy, I can't even stand it sometimes.  He often comes upstairs in the morning and announces that he has already prayed for the morning.  He always helps, and is always happy.  He is the most fun-loving kid ever.  He has such good things in store.

Tonight at dinner he said something funny and I said "you are so cute Will" to which he said
"no, you are so cute!"  I could have squeezed his guts out.

Enunciate

This picture is of the Dad and Will fishing in Texas. They caught a lot of these little fish. I just wanted to put a picture with the post. Which is really about something he said that I wanted to remember. Not fishing.

Will told me that he wanted to eat "Crappin Crunch" for breakfast. I laughed and he fake laughed with me.

Sick

SKIP THE FIRST PARAGRAPH IF BATHROOM TALK MAKES YOU ILL.

Poor Will is sick. Fourth day. Only a little throw up (praise the heavens). Very much throw up poo (Will's word). Sorry it's gross. And a little funny. He'd sit on the pot and say "Oh, so SIS-GUSTING... I hate that throw up poo".

*changing topic away from the pot*

As I was getting everyone ready to drive to piano practice yesterday I looked at Will and thought- He isn't looking very good, I'll take his temp. So, I began and the reading is moving very fast like it always does at first. Except it's already at 102. 103. 103 1/2 and finally stopped on 104 IN THE ARMPIT so it's really 105. Off go his clothes and on goes the tub. We spent a while in the tub and I gave him a dose (and a half) of Tylenol. It took half an hour to get it down to 103. (At the 105 point I frantically called daddy who said tub, Tylenol, 1/2 hour call me back). So, he was feeling a little better and I knew it was on it's way down. But, boy I hate that 104-105 point. Carolyn is the only other one who's gone there. What's with the blondies and fevers?

I'm spending the day at home. Again. Give me a call.

Silly Willy

Today at the store Will was riding in the cart. As I turned the corner of an aisle he said to a 50ish woman passing by- "Hi old lady". And before I could react he said "oh, I just kidding your not old". (PHEW) She kept on walking and didn't say a word so neither did I.

Also he has really been a stinker about getting into the car seat lately. He wants to buckle himself but never sits down to do it. So, the process of getting into the car is 15-20 minutes and tantrums lately because I can only wait so long for him before I go crazy. Anyhow I have been "racing" him to see who buckles first and it's worked a little bit. I say "Come on Will, first one to buckle wins" except the other day after I said that he sat down and said "I can't do it it's stuck". So I buckled him up and then he raised his hands and shouted "I WIN". Cheater.

Wet Willie

After picking a bowl of snow peas from our garden I decided to see what the baby would think of them. I set her on the counter with them and she took one right away.

She put it in her mouth and sucked on it a bit.

Don't worry, Sister was close by.

Oops, I didn't think she could get a bite.

Also, a few days ago I had just come home from being out while dad sat the kids. A few minutes later Will came in the house dripping wet. "What are you doing?" I said to him.... and he said "come on, I show you."

Frugal

I love to watch my pennies. And save dollars. And all in all, be a frugal momma. I bought a swing set at a yard sale for only $25 dollars. I wait until clothes at thrift stores are half off, or the wrong season because then they cost just about nothing. (It's green too, don't forget the reuse of reduce, reuse, recycle). I watched craigslist for months until I found a piano that we could afford. And, my van, well I always said I would drive it until it dies. I'm afraid it may need hospice care. So, why do I tell you about my miserly ways? So that when you hear how Will broke my one year old camera that was $250 you may think, well, at least she has some pennies saved to buy a new one. Dang, that camera was a good deal too... i think it was on clearance because the user manual was only written in french. Maybe now I can get a camera that I'll know how to use.

Side note: I was not in any way disrespectful to the aforementioned camera. I set it down and ran into the other room to get a barfing, gaging baby who was sick. It took William a whole three minutes to grab it and repeatedly smash the lens into the floor so that it will no longer focus or move. One broken camera, one saved baby, oh well, she's worth it.

Battle of Will

Yesterday, the dad and I decided that it was high time for this little boy to eat some fruits and vegetables.
Yes, he is licking peanut butter off of a wrench which was plunged into the peanut butter jar. So, we let him eat breakfast and when I cut up a cantaloupe for the play group kids his age I asked him to eat a bite. He did not. He threw a fit. He threw a tantrum. He wanted crackers. Then he wanted cheese. I said "first eat a bite of cantaloupe". There was much weeping, wailing and gnashing of teeth. I ate lunch, he didn't eat the cantaloupe. He asked for a sandwich. I said "first you have to eat the cantaloupe. He kicked and hit, and went to time out. At about 1:30 I really wanted to give in. At 3:00 I thought he would perish for want of cheese crackers. At 4:00 dad asked if he would eat the cantaloupe. He said NO. "Will you eat some pear?" said dad. The boy said okay. I turned my head so quickly that I now have torticollis. The dad cut a piece of pear and gave it to the boy and... he ate it. And then he asked for more. Did he win? He did not eat the cantaloupe after all. I don't care, today he asked for some pear.
